Having a liberal arts minor with a science major is an unusual combination. Studying "the classics" technically refers to Greek, Roman, and Egyptian cultures, although my coursework has focused on Greek culture and language studies. Studying Greek has been one of the most important topics I have ever discovered. Did you know there are 24 different ways to say the word "the" in Greek and five different words for love? I strongly support requiring students of all ages to have at least some exposure to another language. It was amazing to be able to read the Bible, Socrates, and the Odyssey in their original language. Greek is an entirely different way of approaching how to communicate an idea, and it has given me a different perspective on how I organize my thoughts and ideas.
